Joy is my inner avatar.
She was created from a personal need to counterbalance the sticky, prickly, painful parts of life.
She represents that little bit of color that peaks through on dark days.
She is an intentional tuning in and looking for those moments of awe, wonder, and connection.
She comes valuing every emotion.
She comes with a deep respect for pain.
She comes as an offering for those that feel joy is far away.
Most of all she comes with gratitude.
I have been able to stockpile my own personal inventory of joy because of the courage, bravery, and wonder I have experienced with my family, colleagues, clients, and friends.
For you, I share my joy.

Arnold is a nod to my Dad, my personal superhero, and Clyde the chicken that followed him around in the crowded hallways during his student teacher days. It was one of my favorite stories as a kid, and remains one of my favorite stories to this day.
Since I can't draw chickens, Joy got a duck.

I'm Brittiney George. I'm the human that brings Joy and Arnold to life with pencils, charcoals, and a whole lot of erasers.
By day I am a Somatic Therapist specializing in Transformative Touch. I LOVE my job.
By night I am a closet creative learning how to reuse her pens, markers, and inks.
If you want to know more about the other side of my life, visit me, (and some other wonderful practitioners), at theresiliencycenter.com/
or thesomatictherapycenter.com/.
Ps. The picture is real. I had an awesome little smart car until it opened it's own roof during a thunderstorm. (Not so smart, but a good story for another day.)

Joy has been an incredible ally in healing for me. My true north when I feel spun around.
My balancing agent when life feels overwhelming.
"This week with joy" began as personal joy project in preparation for surgery in 2020.
I wanted to choose what I took with me when I went under anesthesia.
So in the weeks leading up to the surgery, and following it, I spent time with joy each day through meditation and music.
Sometimes it was easy.
Sometimes it was hard.
Sometimes it even made me angry.
But I intentionally kept my eyes, ears, and heart open to the possibility of Joy.
She began to show herself to me in the form of the little cartoons you see throughout this site.
First I drew them for myself.
Then I shared them with my parents.
Then I shyly shared them with a few friends.
And today I share with you!
I continue to spend time each day with joy.
Most days it's easier.
Some days it's still hard.
Sometimes I'm still angry.
But it is often just enough to breathe a little easier & help balance out all the rest.
As for Joy and Arnold the Duck...
I'll continue to turn their adventures into art. As new inspirations come, they'll be added on this website...AND...if you choose to subscribe, Joy and Arnold the Duck will randomly find their way into your email to share a little bit of art, a laugh, some wonder or awe, and maybe even a slice of sunshine for your day.

The primary drawings (Joy, Arnold, and their friends), the layout, and the stories you see throughout the website are a creation of my imagination. The landscapes and backgrounds are built utilizing free images.
I am so thankful to all the artists who share their skills and their art for free to use in this way. It is because of your generosity that my Joy can come to life and be shared. From the deepest recesses of my heart, thank you!
